The Breadth of Silence is an ongoing sequence of enquiry into illnesses that are hiding in plain view.

I was first diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2007. Dealing with an uncertain diagnosis has demanded constant shifts in the way that I live.

Drawing from these experiences, I began this project to highlight the collective sense of displacement among individuals afflicted with similar conditions and attempt to illustrate our daily battles that are unseen, minimised and often misunderstood.

Autoimmune diseases are invisible targets – their causes, symptoms and effects are still a mystery, yet the heaviness of living with one remains certain.
